Hey Lauren - The tube started as a 4" round cake. Turned it into a donut shape and covered it with fondant. The covering was tricky. I wish it would have been smooth but that shape wouldn't allow for a seamless fondant application. I just went with it and made it look like the seams of the fabric.
Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. I'm Angela Mullican, a self-taught cake decorator specializing in sculpted cakes covered in fondant. I especially enjoy "one of a kind" requests! If you can imagine it, I'll do my best to reproduce it in cake!
A lot of people cringe when they hear the word fondant. If that's the case, I recommend giving my fondant a try. While it makes for a beautiful cake, most commercial fondant tastes pretty blah. I tried several recipes until I found one that tastes really good and still gives the smooth texture of traditional fondant. Each cake I make gets a fresh batch of marshmallow fondant. It's made primarily from marshmallows and powdered sugar. YUMM-O!
